They toured with the show for almost three years, the last show being played in Odda in western Norway in December 2009. In January 2007, they appeared onstage at Ole Bull Theater with a new variety show, Ylvis III. In 2006, the brothers debuted as hosts on national broadcasting with the radio show O-fag ( orienteringsfag, theoretical subject, named after a subject previously taught in Norwegian primary schools, a combination of science and social studies) on NRK Radio. ![]() Their debut show was called " Ylvis en kabaret" ("Ylvis: A Cabaret") and was followed in 2003 by " Ylvis en konsert" ("Ylvis: A Concert"). During a performance, they were spotted by impresario Peter Brandt, who orchestrated their debut as professional variety artists at Ole Bull Teater in Bergen in 2000. While attending high school at Fana gymnas, they were heavily involved in school and variety shows as well as the school choir. However, both quit during their youth, Vegard instead focusing on guitar, voice, piano, double bass and comedy, and Bård on guitar, voice, comedy and acrobatics such as aerial silk. Vegard played the viola and Bård the violin. After a few years in Africa, the family moved back to Bergen, where the brothers received a musical upbringing and were trained in classical instruments. Their early childhood years were spent in Angola and Mozambique, where their father was an engineer during the civil wars there. They have released two studio albums titled Ylvis: Volume I and Stories from Norway: Northug, the latter accompanying their 2018 television show of the same name.Vegard Urheim (born in Trondheim) and Bård Urheim Ylvisåker (born 21 March 1982 in Bergen) were born to parents (Hans Terje Ylvisåker and Helga Urheim) from the Sogn district of Western Norway, the older two of three brothers. Their children’s book, What Does the Fox Say?, debuted as number 1 on the New York Times Best Seller list. They also took part in the “I Heart Radio” festival in Las Vegas alongside Paul McCartney, Justin Timberlake and Drake. ![]() Brothers Vegard and Bård Ylvisåker, who began their career onstage in Bergan, Norway in 2000, were embraced stateside with high profile slots on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”, “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” and a live performance on NBC’s “Today Show”. The single would spend over eight weeks on the Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, six of which in the top ten. Within a week of release the song would receive 20 million views on YouTube and within two months would cross the 200 million mark securing their position as a viral sensation. These five words would catapult the two Norwegian brothers to internet fame in September of 2013. ![]()
